The people who are at the heads of the company are Randall L. Stephenson which is the Chairman or the CEO of the AT&T and Richard Lindner who happens to be the CFO of the organizations. The company AT&T deals with industry telecommunications. The products of this company include internet, television, telephone and wireless communication. The net income of the company is $7.356 billion USD and the total employees who are a part of this organization are 303,670 in number. The AT&T Inc. also called the NYSE: T happen to be the no. 1 company in offering the largest network of services. These services include telephone services both local as well as long distance. These also include amongst its services wireless connections as well as DSL Internet access in the whole of the United States of America.

AT&T was formerly known by a different name which was called as SBC Communications, Inc. Then the company name changed it name to AT&T moniker with the stock-trading symbol of T which stands for "telephone". This happened after the acquisition of the American Telephone & Telegraph Company which later came to be known as the AT&T Corporation. The AT&T Corp. broke up in the year 1984 and the smaller companies which were formed from it like "Baby Bells" and others united to three US telecommunications groups by the names of Qwest, Verizon, and AT&T Inc. Most of them have the remnants of the former components that belonged to the AT&T Corp. For the new AT&T, these include many Bell Operating Companies as well as the long distance division. SBC made an announcement on January 31, 2005, that it wanted to purchase the AT&T Corp. and was paying more than $16 billion. This announcement was done around 8 years later after the talks between SBC and AT&T were called off t. The merger talks were finally approved by the AT&T stockholders on June 30, 2005 in Denver. The merger was cleared by the U.S. Department of Justice on October 27, 2005, and was approved by the Federal Communications Commission on October 31, 2005. It was finalized on November 18, 2005.

The new logo of the AT&T office highlight from Cingular. The new slogan was also declared on January 15, 2006, for all its Bell Operating Companies and all the companies under their hold. Some of the names of the companies which are legally under the name of AT&T are AT&T Southwest, AT&T Arkansas, AT&T Missouri, AT&T California, AT&T Ohio and AT&T Tennessee to mention a few.
